Dan Johnson
Dan's research interests are focused on the intersection of emotion
and cognition. He is interested in how processes of emotion regulation
are integrated with unconscious and conscious facets of attention,
working memory, and executive control in the service of successful
emotion regulation or as contributors to psychopathology. A better
understanding of these emotion regulation mechanisms could lead to
the development of training techniques for more effective emotion
regulation and even intervention techniques for those who are clinically
anxious or depressed. Another primary interest is to incorporate
cutting-edge cognitive theory and method in to the development of
computer-based tests of neuropsychological function. As a part his
theoretical and applied research endeavors, Dan developed and will
continue to develop an individual-difference measure of emotion
regulation (called attentional control capacity for emotion or ACCE)
that can be used as an important addition to emotion regulation theory
and broad-scale neuropsychological assessment.
